Hand-held diamond core drilling
Full power and control for core drilling
Hand-held diamond core drills from WEKA are the top choice when you need flexible, mobile, and pure power. With a rated power of 1,600 to 3,700 watts and drilling diameters ranging from 15 to 250 mm, they reliably penetrate masonry, concrete, reinforced concrete, and asphalt. Available as wet core drills, dry core drills, or combined wet/dry core drills.
Hand-held core drill from WEKA
Developed and manufactured in Neubulach in the Black Forest—made in Germany. Since 1988, WEKA core drills have been synonymous with exceptional robustness and durability in the professional construction industry. Every machine is designed for the toughest continuous use in everyday construction site operations:
- minimized weight
- maximum load capacity
- practical features: soft hammer action, oil-bath lubrication, or Intellitronik control system

Who uses hand-held core drilling machines?
Hand-held core drilling machines are the ideal tool when you need to drill quickly, flexibly, and precisely but cannot or do not want to use a drill stand:
- Electricians and electrical installers: for cable penetrations and conduit in walls and ceilings
- Plumbing, heating, and HVAC technicians: for pipe penetrations in concrete and masonry
- Construction companies and demolition specialists: for wall openings, core drilling, and renovation work
- Drilling companies and core drilling service providers: for daily professional use on various construction sites
- Carpenters and drywall installers: for drilling in lightweight structures and wood-concrete composites
Typical applications of hand-held core drills
- Pipe penetrations for water, gas, and heating through concrete walls and masonry
- Cable openings and conduit for electrical installations and telecommunications
- Openings for ventilation systems and HVAC
- Core drilling in asphalt, e.g., for road construction and civil engineering
- Material testing for concrete quality, curing, and strength
- Installation of anchor bolts and supports for bridges and machinery

Wet or dry drilling: What’s the difference?
In wet drilling, the diamond drill bit is continuously cooled and lubricated with water. This reduces friction, prevents overheating, significantly extends the drill bit’s service life, and enables large drill diameters in hard concrete. In addition, the resulting drilling dust is bound, keeping the work environment clean.
Dry drilling does not require water cooling. This is ideal when water is problematic, such as during electrical installations or when drilling near power lines. WEKA offers core drilling machines for both methods, as well as combination units for wet and dry drilling. To minimize dust generation, special drill bits with integrated extraction systems are available.

Finding the right hand-held core drilling machine
Choosing the right core drilling machine depends on three factors:
- Desired drilling diameter
- Material (unreinforced or reinforced concrete, masonry, asphalt)
- Drilling method (wet or dry)
WEKA offers handheld diamond core drilling machines with 1 to 4 speeds and a power output ranging from 1,600 to 3,700 watts. These core drilling machines are suitable for both small cable openings and large openings with a diameter of up to 250 mm.

Hand-held or stand-mounted: Which is better?
A hand-held core drill isn’t always the best choice. When the drilling diameter, material thickness, or continuous drilling capacity is high, stand-mounted diamond core drills may be the better option. Mounted on a WEKA core drilling stand for maximum precision and ergonomics, you’ll reliably achieve the best drilling results.
