For us, efficiency means far more than mere performance: it firmly integrates the responsible use of energy and resources into our long-term economic thinking. That is why we consistently rely on renewable energy and fully harness the potential of the sun and the earth: through photovoltaics, solar thermal energy, and geothermal energy for low-emission energy use.

The Black Forest’s Location Advantage for Solar Energy

Our buildings are situated on a mid-elevation site in the Black Forest in Neubulach. This exposed, sun-friendly location offers ideal conditions for harnessing particularly high levels of solar radiation. The orientation of our production and administrative buildings allows us to capture as much solar energy as possible and process it efficiently. Thus, our long-standing location in the northern Black Forest becomes a central component of our sustainable energy concept.

Hot Water and Heat Pumps Powered by Solar Energy and Geothermal Heat 

Warm from above and below: Using modern solar thermal systems and geothermal heat, we directly generate hot water and heating for the entire company.

This benefits all areas of our operations, from administration to the development and service departments, right through to our production facilities. The direct use of solar heat for our hot water and geothermal energy for heating our facilities enables an energy supply with exceptionally low losses and emissions, and significantly reduces our reliance on conventional energy sources. In some cases, it even eliminates the need for them entirely.

Photovoltaics with buffer storage for manufacturing and buildings

We use the electricity from our large-scale photovoltaic systems directly in our buildings and in manufacturing. The high added value of this system is particularly evident during the winter months: we can tap into this enormous potential not only when the sun is shining. Even when the sky is cloudy and after dark, we use WEKA’s own electricity via our appropriately sized buffer storage systems. In this way, we cover a large portion of our energy needs with self-generated solar power and remain independent of rising energy prices.

We feed any additional surplus energy into the public grid, thereby actively contributing to ensuring that others also benefit from clean, environmentally friendly solar energy.

Taking Responsibility, Tackling the Energy Transition

For us, this is an important contribution to realizing the regional energy transition, for which we too want to take responsibility. The benefits of this comprehensive energy concept are clear to us: energy we produce ourselves—whether as heat or electricity—permanently reduces our energy costs and creates tangible economic advantages. At the same time, this aligns with our fundamental understanding of sustainability and responsibility.

This very attitude is also reflected in every single WEKA machine: For us, using energy efficiently means intelligently and purposefully bundling available power to achieve maximum impact with the lowest possible emissions. This creates long-term benefits for our customers and the environment.
